Lesson 1:
2. READING
Many people had strong reactions to the advertisement and social media was lit up for several days following its airing. Why? At first, many of the reactions were negative, with people upset that such an iconic American song was being sung in different languages. One twitter user called it, "unpatriotic" and "UnAmerican". Others believe it is a good portrayal of U.S.'s diversity and what makes this country special.
So far, over 10 million people have viewed the commercial on Youtube and many people have taken to the media to make their opinions known. Take a look at some social media responses:
Youtube (Look at the comments below the video. Click "show more".)
Twitter (You can type in other search options in the gray search bar as well. Some options are: "Coke Super Bowl" or "#cokecommercial")
What are people saying? Is there a consensus? What do you think? Do you strongly agree or strongly disagree with any of the sentiments?
Read an article supporting Coca-Cola's advertisement choice. You can find the article here. Then take an online quiz. The quiz can be found here. The site will ask you to put in your name an email. It will send you an email letting you know of your results when finished. If you do not feel comfortable putting in your email address, you can enter mine: [email protected].
